Sidney announces the opening of the public school on Tuesday September 3 along with a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners on the same day. The Cheyenne County Fair and Race Meeting in Sidney Nebraska is scheduled for September 18 19 20 and 21.
R A Blake recalls in a notebook observation of Cheyenne County grain described as the biggest and best in seven years. He notes travel across Canada and the Dakotas, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois, highlighting regional agricultural vigor.
The list shows marriages approved in August 1912 including Edgar H. Dedrick and Hattie C. Carlson of Sidney on August 17, George Bendixon and Ellen Viola Wallace of Denver on August 19, A R Speicher and Kate Lytle of Paxton on August 21, John Dennis and Myrtle Megehee of Denver on August 16, and F G Schmoll and Grace Peterson of Fort Collins on August 23.
Clifford O Hade and Thomas M Bickett completed final homestead proofs before County Judge Gapen on August 19 and 21 with witnesses Kent Childers J K Green and F W Portrey T M Bickett respectively. Joseph R Frame also finished near same date with witnesses F W Portrey and T M Bickett. Emma Q O Lareen presented to U S Commissioner Oberfelder on August 20 with witnesses J K Childers Clint Thompson. Philip Reinmuth of Dalton completed on August 22 with witnesses William R Morrow and James Davison.
Commissioner Barlow visited town this week. Mrs Yaegle and children enjoy an outing in Denver. Fred and Mrs Letts returned from a Denver trip. The new courthouse should be ready for occupancy November 1. Arthur Oberfelder of Denver visited Sidney with family. Mrs Livoni returned from a Hel lerichs visit south of town. Thomas Davoren returned to Hoge Kansas after visiting relatives here. Mrs Thornburg and Dorothy spent three days in Potter visiting relatives. Mrs Baisy Bradbury visiting sister Mrs Blake en route from Chadron to Petersburg. A Hardy left for Sheridan Wyoming for hay fever relief. Mrs Hardy joined Wednesday. First threshing reports near Kirk Nebraska, winter wheat at 54 bushels per acre. Ralph Halligan and Nick Bowmans of North Platte were in Sidney Tuesday en route to Denver by auto.
An informal dinner was given at the WP Miles home last Saturday. The guests included Ann and Harriett Radcliffe and Mrs. Frank Whitelock. Mrs. Simon Fishman Myrtle and Naomi and Mrs. Fishman's sister Fannie Fine left for Denver Sunday evening to visit Mrs. Fishman's parents.
Mrs Ernest Kruse hosted the T N Club a week ago Wednesday serving an unusually delicious five course luncheon that was greatly enjoyed.
Republican state senate candidate B K Bushee was seen in Sidney on Wednesday evening while traveling from Kimball to the Old Settlers Reunion in Morrill. He stopped briefly during the journey, continuing toward the event.
Carpenters finish shelving and painting in a room vacated by Rob inson's Grocery Company as Sam Fine prepares to open a new gentlemen's furnishings store this week.
Flavel Wright of Scottsbluff represented North Western Mutual Life Insurance Company of Milwaukee in Scottsbluff last week. He greeted old acquaintances and incidentally wrote insurance, gaining goodwill and being well known in the region.

Sidney Lodge No 196 of the A O U W sent Joseph Oberfelder Ernest Stuht James Williams Fred Grirmith Herman Schroeder M Ramella Mr Ayle Mr Greenlee Andy Lindberg W J Shoemaker Everett Foster and Don Devine to Big Springs Nebraska Wednesday night for the institution of a new lodge. After the work a luncheon was served and speeches were made by Deputy Grand Master Jacob Jaskelek Dr James Woodard and Joseph Oberfelder with the Sidney men praising the Big Springs reception.

A Saturday night storm triggered a fire at the Fred Dresser home when lightning reportedly struck the telephone. A gasoline stove beneath the line fed the flames, causing damage to the kitchen and dining room. Fire was controlled quickly and as a result fall papering started earlier at the Dresser residence.

Mr and Mrs J A F Wolf start Sunday for Iowa City to visit Mrs Wolf's parents. The 800 harvest workers from Sidney had their pictures taken on Thursday as a unique souvenir.
