Farm Youth Drowned In Storm Washout Near Gurley
Jim Kuehn nineteen-year-old Gurley farm youth drowned Saturday night when his car struck a washout on a Cheyenne County road and was swept into a deep draw filled by heavy rains. The tragedy marked Cheyenne County’s fourth traffic death of the year, part of Nebraska’s statewide toll of 235. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Salem Lutheran Church with interment in Greenwood Cemetery Sid ney. The body lay in state at Gehrig & Son Funeral Home until Wednesday noon. He was a 1964 Gurley High School graduate employed by The Egging Co. and planned to enter college this fall. He is survived by his parents and two brothers. Raymond Lessman discovered the body. a sheriff’s posse located the car’s aerial in the water. The car was hoisted from the submerged scene by a Whitlock truck.

Historical Society To Meet In Dalton
The Cheyenne County Historical Association will hold a meeting in Dalton at 7:30 p.m. on September 4 in the Royal Room. Mrs. Ira White and Mrs. Dale Flora lead the program with musical numbers a talk and slides by Paul Henderson of Bridgeport about On The Deadwood Trail. Refreshments close the evening. Admission is free but 1965 memberships due are $1. Roy Mac Adam, president, announced a $25 donation from the Saturday Night Club, which has given several hundred dollars to the Memorial Rest Home and the association.

Proceeds From Game To Go To Jerry Krueger
A game between the Sidney and Potter town teams will be played tonight at Legion Park with all proceeds going to the family of Jerry Krueger a young Sidney man who was seriously injured in a water skiing accident two weeks ago. Admission is 75 cents for adults and 25 cents for children.
