Rain brings relief as Cheyenne County seeds fall with moisture
The Telegraph reports .68 inch of moisture since Wednesday morning easing drought. Cheyenne County farmers expect early September seeding for about 250000 acres while soil moisture aids dryland corn and pastures. Irrigated Lodgepole Valley crops show strong stands but pumps run nonstop and labor is scarce. The rain ends a long heat spell and may curb grasshopper damage, though vast wheat stores lack storage and shipping facilities.
