Regional Oil Search Hits New Peak Amid Fatal Wreck

A Cheyenne County farm youth Allen Marsh, 19, died when the car he rode in left a country road west of Lorenzo and overturned multiple times. Driver Donald Hawkins, 19, and passenger M B Crawford, 52, were hospitalized with serious injuries. Investigators blamed excessive speed for the crash. Crawford, a stockbroker from Denver, said to have Florida plates, survived with serious injuries. In a separate crash near Sidney, Mrs Gracie Lucero and Frank Bean collided, causing injuries and vehicle damage. a fourth accident on US 39 left Lula Lilly and the Jensen family injured after a wet pavement skid and rollover.

Monday Rites Set For Allen Marsh Accident Victim

Funeral services are planned for Allen Ernest Marsh 19 killed in a Wednesday night auto crash near Lorenzo. A Peetz Evangelical United Brethren member, he will be buried at Greenwood Cemetery, with Rev. Raymond Scott officiating. Survivors include his parents and two brothers.

Prowlers Target Window Screen In Local Incident

Police were summoned to 944 6th Ave after a report from Sharol Brown of prowlers tampering with a window screen. Officers found only partial tearing and no arrests at that time. Later three men were detained on loitering and prowling suspicions but released. Captain Bauer urged homeowners to report suspicious activity after dark to curb window peeping in the residential district.

Tar Pot Fire at Ed's Trailer Court Highlights Fire Readiness

Sidney firemen responded to Ed's Trailer Court near Highway 30 at 11 30 am to extinguish a blaze in a tar pot. Ed Rehmer owns the lot and E M Hutsell, who parked a trailer there, was re roofing with tar. The overheated pot ignited tar but minimal damage occurred, totaling about $15 in tar loss.

Nebraska highway officials forecast Interstate 80 west segment from North Platte to the Wyoming line built between 1967 and 1971. Deputy state engineer Henry Schlitt said two lanes in each direction are planned minimum with possible three or four in busy stretches.
