Teachers Institute Ends This Afternoon

Cheyenne County Teachers Institute concludes after an intensive program led by County Superintendent Anna McFadden at the local High School. Noted educators Dr. O H Venner of Lincoln and Mrs. Addie Turpie of North Platte anchored lectures on education art and literature. Audience included Supt W J Braham Mabel Ells Eva Carter Alice Quinn Catherine Greenlee Edith Martin Laura Herbert Leatha Gibson Marjorie McComb Mary E Kirtley and others.

County Exhibit Off for State Fair

County Agent Holt Gould landed Cheyenne County agricultural exhibit for the State Fair on Wednesday. He shared a car with Kimball County exhibit and will leave for Lincoln to prepare and care for the products. He expects to assemble the best county exhibit yet for the state contest and will return later to finish plans for the County Fair scheduled the 10th to 18th of next month. Farmers show strong interest and livestock and farm products look promising. Cheyenne County Fair bids fair to be the best ever held.

Lightning fires wheat stack on Judge C. P. Chambers farm

Eight stacks of headed wheat were burned on the farm of Judge C. P. Chambers when lightning struck during an early Tuesday storm. The loss amounted to about one half of the year's crop and was only partially covered by insurance.

Bread Team Represents Cheyenne County at State Fair

A Cheyenne County Bread Team led by Frances Buckner with captain Bernice Foster and May Breternitz and Mrs H G Gould will depart soon for Lincoln to represent the county at the State Fair. They raised funds via an ice cream social on the Court House lawn last Saturday, netting nearly seventy dollars, with thanks to patrons and supporters for help.

Sidney Public Schools Ready To Open Term

Sidney Public Schools will begin Tuesday after a teachers’ meeting Monday outlining the year’s work. Enrollment is expected to rise with more teachers and a growing High School and grades. The structure includes the public library space for now and a new building under contract.

St Patrick's Academy Set for Grand Opening

St Patrick's Academy prepares to begin its third year with new teachers, a larger student body, and strengthened faculty. Students report to St Patrick's church for the opening events and then return to the academy for classes at nine. Father Dinkins has returned from Louisville with new staff to support expected growth this year.

Sidney Top and Paint Factory opens in Sidney

The Sidney Top and Paint Company under Thomas Knapp opens with five top auto finishers and Charles Smithpeter supervising. They offer top coverings, curtains, glass, dent and frame work, and guaranteed three years. Within ninety days shops will open in Sterling Alliance and Douglas Wyoming with seven machines producing stock tops in Sidney.
