Teachers Sidney's Guests Next Week Institute Opens in Sidney

The Cheyenne County teachers institute will begin Monday at 9:00 A. M. August 25 for a five day session under County Superintendent Anna McFadden. Dr. O H Venner of Lincoln and Mrs Addie Turpie of North Platte City Schools will present lectures on education, art, literature and primary methods. The program offers four daily forty five minute periods with musical interludes. Sidney welcomes the teachers and aims to provide the best accommodations and support for a productive institute.

Labor Day Picnic at Worquist Grove Near Sidney

The Community Association plans an old time Labor Day picnic at WEL Swatalander’s grove four miles east of Sidney. Free watermelon and lemonade plus transportation will be provided, with no proxies allowed for eating or drinking. Capn City will supply about twenty-two hundred melons for all attendees.

Cheyenne County shows rapid banking growth with fifteen banks totaling 3,299,418.21 in deposits by 1910, up from five in 1910 and a Wheat-driven future projected to add eight to ten million dollars in deposits as farming expands. Boy Scouts Return From Camping Trip

The Sidney Troop of Boy Scouts completed a week long outdoor outing praised the Scout committee for support. They traveled by automobile and Ford roadster, faced mountain conditions in northern Colorado and southern Wyoming, and tested endurance learned scout methods. The community hopes for an annual outing and greater future participation, crediting the Scoutmaster’s leadership and support.

S. C. and B. Club Ice Cream Social

The S. C. and B. County Fair To Be Agricultural Center

The Cheyenne County Fair Association stages a four day event September 1 to 4 aimed at making the county fair an agricultural and educational center. County Agent I G Gould serves as secretary and will finalize arrangements before the State Fair and return to ensure the local fair ends in success.

Floyd Granger Killed by Own Truck in Wheat Haul

Floyd Granger died Saturday when he fell from his heavily loaded truck as he repaired it during an auction in Dalton. The vehicle rolled over him, causing instant death. Undertaker W. R. Weeden prepared the body for burial and shipped it to Wyoming.
