The Cheyenne County Fair begins Wednesday for a four day run with strong exhibits promised in farm products livestock and University displays. Airplane stunts auto races foot races and various contests are planned to draw a large crowd and benefit home industries.

Sidney's schools opened with a likely record attendance as Dalton students enroll to complete high school work since Dalton High lacks teachers this year. If Dalton students continue, Sidney may need more faculty. a new building will ease congestion and improve efficiency, with overall progress and a good year forecast.
Gurley plans a new flour mill with capital of 25000 dollars in subscribe capital. Otto Schricker will run the plant with his nephew Edward J Peterson as associate. The mill aims for fifty barrels a day, expanding output as demand grows, leveraging Gurley’s grain supply and transportation links. The project is expected to be a strong asset and profitable for the city and community.
The Inter-State Co operative Restaurant plans to open to the public about Sunday. The new dining room seats twelve tables plus a counter. Mahogany furniture with white glass tops and modern machinery promise efficient service under manager Mr Variman.
Frank A. May of Omaha, a Sidney caller for the Nebraska Telephone Company, discussed locating a new central station near the Sidney Telephone Office. He seeks a desirable site to install the facility, aiming to advance telecom service in the area.

The Sidney Community Association picnic at the Swatzlander grave on the old Borquist place drew over 300 autos. Watermelon, lemonade and amusements filled the day with swimming contests races and prizes. W. E. Swatzlander plans to make it an annual event with more such gatherings at his grove.
The Willard Service Station moves from north of the Court House to the Mann Motor Company building on West Lincoln Highway. Manager Phil Anderson cites space constraints and aims to expand battery service ambulatory service and electrical system repairs. The station will carry K. W. Magnetos and parts and plans to improve public convenience. West reorganized his store Labor Day to speed service and display items including a 82 Inch Case Separator 20 40 Case Tractor and a 4 bottom Case plow with inquiries directed to Anderson Hart Parr Tractor Company.
Farmers are informed the Ice Plant will pay 58 cents per pound for butterfat delivered Friday and higher if market supports it. Beginning Monday September 8th they will buy all kinds of poultry at the highest cash price. Sidney Ice Plant.
St Patrick's Academy opened the school year with Mass at St Patrick's church for over 200 students. Enrollment rises from 165 last year to over 200 this year with 280 boarders, plus about 30 awaiting arrival. Total enrollment expected near 240. New physics and chemistry boost high school offerings and community service.
Mrs. A A Ahiman hosted visitors at Hilcrest with about fifty guests and gifts for John Daugherty’s birthday. The New Idea Club and other societies held parties, exchanged humorous hosiery gifts, and noted charitable ties to an orphan in France. A North Divide W M B Club meeting featured music, refreshments, and a kind letter from Bastelia Marie Yase expressing gratitude for French orphans’ support.
Sherrerd offers free eye examinations for children with no charge. He notes glasses are only provided if absolutely necessary, aiming to avoid burdening the child.
Miss Martha Cunningham and friends visited Sidney for Labor Day. Rev Marie Wilcox will fill the Methodist pulpit Sunday evening. Mrs George Huckman and Mrs Milquist of Cheyenne spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs E S Moore. Mrs Ella Whaxall and children Marion and Frederick of North Platte visit the Rimmers. Mrs H B Tipton and son Guy returned from a two week trip to Holdrege Atlanta and Orleans. Bert Bates and daughters Nellie and Doris visited Sidney. The Bates daughters plan to attend State University this fall. Rev and Mrs L E Lewis will leave Monday to attend Conference at University Place and visit their daughter there. Nouge and Ezra Chambers attend county school district redistricting conference in Lincoln as local committee members.
Mr and Mrs A B Hardy and child return from a seven week vacation in Colorado and Wyoming. They report a delightful summer and say their trip included many places similar to Sidney but none compares as a place to live or do business.
Mrs J G Cultra and daughter Myrtle Frances and son Clyde of Clay Center Kansas with Miss Annabel Faber of St Louis arrived in Sidney after a six week Cadillac Eight trip through Colorado Utah Wyoming and Nebraska. They met J L Cultra and plan to return this fall for duck hunting while praising western hospitality and scenery. De Kimpeten Dentist. Phone 12.
Messrs F M Wooldridge and John Simones organize a local company capitalized at 50000 for manufacturing artificial ice. They will build a cold storage plant with daily capacity of fifteen tons, expandable to thirty. Plant to be in operation by February 1 and includes complete machinery and expert manufacturer engagement. The project aims to serve Sidney and nearby towns profitably from the start.
A Burlington route wreck north of the viaduct killed highteen head of cattle as two cattle cars left the track and rolled down the embankment. The incident caused little damage, no injuries, and a slight train delay. Authorities attribute the buckle to sudden air pressure on the grade. Also notes a birth: Bernard Lawrence Ernest on August 24 to Mr and Mrs Antone J Ernest.
