Legal action planned by K of C against bogus oath circulators
The Knights of Columbus supreme council in Cleveland announces criminal libel charges against at least six persons and organizations for publishing a bogus fourth degree oath. Luke E. Hart reports millions of copies circulated nationwide, especially in the south, within three months. The order vows immediate prosecution of identifiable circulators and maintains a $25,000 reward does not deter the libel. Five supreme directors were reelected: John H. Reddin, John F. O'Neil, Francis P. Matthews, Claude Brown, and John E. Swift.
