Sidney will host the Western Nebraska United Chambers of Commerce meeting at the Fort Sidney Motor Hotel on Thursday Sept 11. A 4:00 p.m board meeting in the Directors Room and a 5:30 adjournment will follow, then a social hour at 6 p.m. and a 7 p.m. program with dinner for area business people and farmers. The Sidney High School Band will perform on the hotel patio under George Hinn.

Timid Burglar Bound Over For Ogallala Trial
Joseph Lakner 29 pleaded guilty to four burglary counts and was bound over to District Court in Ogallala. Bond set at 2000 remains unpaid. he is jailed in Keith County as Cheyenne County prosecutions hinge on Keith County action. Lakner admitted break ins in Chappell Big Springs Lodgepole and other sites and was nabbed near the South Platte River after a tourist car arrived at Kripal’s Garage.

Funeral Today for Adams Infant Son
Services were held at Gehrig and Son Funeral Home for Donald Allen Adams infant son of Mr and Mrs Wayne Adams of Peetz who died shortly after birth in Cheyenne County Memorial Hospital. Rev Raymond Scott of Peetz conducted the rites. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Survivors include his parents one brother 14 months old and grandparents Mr and Mrs John Bauer of Sidney and Mr and Mrs Harry Adams of Peetz.

Escapee Returned to State Hospital from Sidney
The Sidney Police Department said an escapee from the State Hospital at Ingleside near Hastings was turned over to hospital officials on Saturday. Hans Peterson, long known to local police, was arrested for intoxicated driving, then jailed again for intoxication. fingerprinting revealed he was an Hastings escapee.
