Will Auction School Land Leases in Sidney at Public Auction
The Commissioner of Public Lands and Buildings plans to lease about 14 000 acres of school land at a public auction in Sidney at the County Treasurer’s office starting 1 PM on September 27 1900. If no six percent rental bids meet appraised values the land may be leased at six percent on the highest bid, per the new school land law. Lists and appraisals are available from the County Treasurer or the Commissioner in Lincoln. The Commissioner will answer inquiries about the school land program and the new law at auction start.

Mrs Christina Sternberg died Wednesday August 22 at age 60 ten miles north of Potter after a year of declining health. She had sought hospital care in Omaha last winter with limited relief. Widow of John Sternberg who died last November, she leaves five children including Charles and Rena Sternberg who resided with her, John A Sternberg nearby, and Mrs Julius Johnson and Mrs John Johnson in Kimball and Sheridan counties. Born in Sweden the family emigrated about fifteen years ago to settle nearby.
