Associate curator Lloyd Tanner says field work at the Uptegrove Ohio Oil fossil quarry is finished due to unforeseen expenses. A party spent over a month recovering more than 1,000 bones. winter study will follow with plans to restore the pit for water removal.

June McMillen 15 daughter of Mr and Mrs Art McMillen and member of the Dryland Toughies 4 H Club won the livestock judging contest at the Cheyenne County Fair scoring 238 of 250 from 60 contestants. Vern Beyer of Sidney placed second with 235, followed by Jim Henke of Dalton and George Mohatt of Sidney in a tight top five. A three way tie for fifth included Donald Ray Cruise Vern Brauer and Jerry McRoberts.

Cheyenne County business houses urged to buy 4 H fat calves at the county fairgrounds sale tomorrow. About 80 head, the largest 4 H calf auction in the fair's history, will be sold. Secretary Lowry Lindell proposed firms buy calves and sell to packing houses, saying price differences can fund public relations and show support for youth.
