Mrs. Ella Burke Dies at 85 in Pasadena

Former Sidney resident Mrs. Ella Burke, 85, died Saturday morning of a heart attack at her daughter Mrs. Carl Ledbetter’s home in Pasadena California. Funeral services were to be conducted in Pasadena with burial planned later at Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney. a fuller obituary to follow in The Telegraph.

Two Plead Guilty In Corn Theft Case

In Cheyenne County Court Saturday two Ordville men Wesley Jacobs and Anthon Berry pleaded guilty to petit larceny for entering Henry Haupt's west Sidney farm and stealing about $2 worth of corn. County Judge C W Smith fined each $10 and costs and ordered double restitution to Haupt.

Mrs. E Wright 69 Dies in Sidney Pneumonia Funeral Set

Mrs. E Wright 69 died at Memorial Hospital after a week ill from pneumonia. Funeral services are 2 PM tomorrow at First Methodist Church Sidney with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Fair Booth Sales Lousy Says Cheyenne County Official

Lowry Lindell, secretary of the Cheyenne County Fair Board, called booth sales for the fair downright lousy. Only five booths sold with about a dozen spaces remaining as the fair opens Thursday, despite a county merchants only rule. The Sidney Chamber of Commerce handles booth arrangements for the event.

Shop Lifters To Go To Police In Sid ney Store

Officials of the Ben Franklin Self Service store in Sidney announced they will hand all future shoplifting cases to the police. The store had a policy of turning over juveniles to their parents when caught. Saturday two youths were caught stealing merchandise.

Ozark Air Lines Plans Sidney Visit To Discuss Service

Ozark Air Lines officials bid before the Civil Aeronautics Board and will fly into Sidney Municipal Airport Wednesday around 2 p.m. A two hour plus stay includes a conference with civic authorities on potential air service for Sidney. The visit aims to showcase the Super Hi-Per DC3 and attract regional interest.

North Platte Man Held On Charge Of Larceny By Bailee

Glen Slankard of North Platte, 38, pleaded innocent in Cheyenne County Court to larceny by bailee. He allegedly took a 1950 model automobile owned by Max Stone and drove toward Salt Lake City. A Friday hearing was set with a $1,000 appearance bond. Slankard was arrested in Ogallala after Sheriff Bill Schultz directed Cheyenne County authorities. The car contained ten new suits, four ties, pants with sales tags visible.

Sidney pool robbed of 25 dollars in receipts

The Sidney Municipal Swimming Pool was broken into Friday night. Thieves climbed the fence into the office and took $25 in cash from a drawer where receipts were stored under ticket stubs. Stubs were scattered across the floor and the pool was to close for the season next Sunday.

Chimney Rock to be dedicated as national monument

Dedication of Chimney Rock near Bayard as a national monument will be held Wednesday at 2 pm in Bayard city park during the fall festival. Rep A L Miller will be main speaker and a letter from Interior Secretary Fred Seaton will be read. Miller helped secure the 80 acre site designation.

Sidneyite Farmer Bitten by Rattlesnake Near Sidney

Ralph Lafler a prominent Sidney farmer was bitten on the leg by a rattlesnake while working on a fence at his farm 14 miles south of Sidney. He received prompt medical care at a Sidney office and was reported not seriously ill.
