Potter Days Message Announces County Event
Readiness is complete for the annual Potter Days celebration next Tuesday and Wednesday. Peetz oil well drill advances with heavy equipment
A new oil well south of Peetz Colorado began drilling last week using heavy rotary equipment. The Denver based E K Carey Drilling Company serves Plains Exploration Company. Spudding and surface casing use a light rotary rig from William Stewart of Sterling. heavy rig will drill from a test southwest of Brush. The site lies on Roy Gillham land in section 23 11 52, three miles south and 1.5 miles west of Peetz, near the Peetz table breaks. The Kenesaw valley test southwest of this location was abandoned last winter with no depth or formation details released.

The body of Jimmie F. Taylor, 23, a stunt man killed during a Bruenger Air Show at Lodgepole, was sent to San Antonio, Texas, on Tuesday morning for funeral and burial services. Early Settler Dies In Sleep In Cheyenne County
Siebert Peters aged 87 a pioneer of Cheyenne County was found dead in his home at 18th and Cedar streets about 8 30 Tuesday night. Death appears from a heart attack likely occurred Friday night or Saturday. Nephew-in-law John Schiesselman discovered the body after knocking and receiving no answer. Peters a bachelor lived alone and was last seen Friday. Graveside services were held at Greenwood Cemetery at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning with Rev Henry Monnich officiating. Peters was born in Germany August 1 1862 and came to the United States as an infant. He homesteaded in Dalton in 1889, returned in 1913 to farm near Dalton, and lived at his Cedar Street home since 1942. Survivors include nephews Rudolph Lipstreu Crete Neb and John Lipstreu Ingleside Neb with two nieces and one brother predeceasing him.
