Annie Pantenburg narrowly escaped fatal poisoning Sunday night after her brother handed corrosive sublimate instead of medicine. A physician used a stomach pump to remove much of the poison, with some absorbed. antidotes arrived too late to prevent danger, but she is now improved and out of immediate peril.
Miss Carrie Burger’s friends staged a Monday evening surprise at Mrs. W. F. Bassett’s home where she visited with family. After a detour to a neighbor, she returned to join a party with refreshments and festivity. Judge Grimes and Miss Falkenburg presided over a Sidney court term dealing with Bernhard Gehesin. Gehesin pled guilty to stealing warrants and clothing from Dan Bergman and received a two year penitentiary sentence.
J. E. Sanders and sons and Charlie Lager of Ickes bought a new steam breader from Avery Manufacturing Co Peoria supplying automatic stock self measure and modern features. They will thresh Cheyenne county grain for three months. The machine first operated at J Cramer s oats patch near Burlington depot yielding 110 bushels of oats from about 1 1/2 acres. The oats grew on a small plot less than a block, over 73 bushels per acre. They drove the thresher to the west part of the county on Tuesday.
A bold advertisement promotes a gold watch chain for everybody and a ten dollar suit of clothes. It claims a beautal assortment from one of New York's largest manufacturers and invites readers to drop in to see the big offer with officers for boys and men and prices listed for all departments.
