Sidney Nebraska August 8 1905 the board met as a board of equalization and reconvened as county commissioners to fix the 1905 levy. County valuation 2081036.52 with eight mills for general fund one mill for old debts six eighths mill for bridge six eighths mill for county patients six eighths mill for soldiers relief one twelfth mill sinking fund plus four and a half mills for district school bonds and related interest totaling the levy.
Elizabeth Redington of Sidney died Sunday after months of illness. Born October 27, 1842 in Waddington New York she married Henry Redington in 1872 and lived in Potter Nebraska then Sidney. Funeral at Catholic church followed by community condolences. she leaves a husband and two deceased children. Sidney items note visitors, sales, and local happenings including talks, travels, and a Gypsy fortune teller in town.
A party of government experts has spent ten days in Keith and Deuel counties examining underground water to determine if artesian water can be secured. They survey the valley from North Platte toward the Wyoming line and will extend investigations to nearby areas later.
D W Davis, reader and impersonator, to perform Wednesday August 16 under M E church auspices. Tickets 25 cents adults 15 cents children. Davis endorsed by York College President Schell and Nebraska Wesleyan University professor Turner for his engaging, dramatic readings.

Burlington trains delayed by Northern Pacific strike at Billings. Mary Eppe named deputy postmaster successor to Irene who resigns to attend the State Normal in Greeley. Edith Walford, Lizzie Lygnholm and Anna Gunderson among teachers spending summer at school. Ed Lane moves to Cheyenne county as new citizen with stock and farm items. F. E. Cornwall, formerly with Union Pacific, now train dispatcher in Kemmerer Wyoming after Denver marriage. H H Hippen injured by sickle while clearing weeds near Lodgepole. Lectures next week by Prof W. R. Pate and Prof J. Q. Zuck announced. no admission. State Superintendent McBrien praises Sidney school. predicts strong year under Prof Pate. A Moberg returns to Nichols section foreman after Bitter Creek assignment. minor injury from spike hammer but resumes work.
Mr and Mrs B A Lathrop hosted Sidney youths Thursday evening to meet Mr and Mrs Hearst and Mr O Neil from Hastings. The visiting musicians presented vocal and instrumental music that delighted attendees. Refreshments followed and guests praised the Lathrops as royal entertainers.
