Miami of Ohio poised for top 10 ranking after strong defense
Miami of Ohio coach Dick Crum says last year’s No 10 ranking is in the past though the Redskins remain contenders. The program, unbeaten in 23, tied and defeated notable opponents, relies on a national leading defense and eyes offensive evolution with backfield shifts including Rob Carpenter to tailback and Randy Walker to wing back. Crum notes inexperience on the line and secondary but expects Sherman Smith to lead a more open attack.
