Five year old Sidney girl killed in Grant Street crash
A driver, Harry Sylvan Left Hand Bull, 39, was to face charges of motor vehicle homicide and leaving the scene after a car struck a bicycle carrying Glenda Sue Bielanin, 5, and her 9 year old uncle Robert Cronk on Grant Street. Glenda Sue died of head injuries. Robert Cronk suffered multiple injuries and shock. The accident occurred about 3 40 PM near 16th and Grant as Bull fled the scene and was later captured. The Bielanin family planned a reunion in French Morocco. Capt Bielanin was away on overseas duty. Funeral arrangements are pending. Red Cross appeals requested emergency leave for Capt Bielanin.

The biggest Dollar Days event in Sidney's retail history is planned for September 11 and 12. The Chamber of Commerce Merchants retail committee organizes the two day sale with heavy advertising and special merchandise to set an all time high in local retailing. Jughead the dummy tractor driver from the University of Nebraska Agricultural Engineering Department will appear at the Cheyenne County Fair on Tuesday August 25 at 11 am. The demonstrations show how accidents occur when tractors overturn from speeding rough ground improper hitching or heavy loads. Engineers John Steele and Dan Kitchen say about half of Nebraska farm work fatalities involve upsetting tractors. The program aims to teach safe operation and quick exit when tipping begins.
