Discontent and unrest ripple through Mexico City events
Reports from El Nacional describe General Benjamin Hill patrolling Mexico City to quell strikes by electric lighting and street railway workers. Several shots fired and riots noted. Carranza’s meeting with Federation of Syndicates labeled the action unpatriotic as socialist agitators blamed for Mexico’s labor strife. El Paso arrivals cite food scarcity and job losses as factors. Private dispatches note General Inez Salazar’s execution in Chihuahua City by General Trevino on alleged revolutionary plots.
