Gurley residents report a busy week with Legion Auxiliary convention travels to Lincoln by Roy Gabriel and Gabriels couple, visits from Franklin and Cheryl Beyer, and numerous hometown guests. Beach trips, Wyoming and Utah fishing, and trips to Crawford, Scottsbluff, and Las Vegas noted along with 4-H activities and fair preparations.
Mrs Helen Knudson and daughter Gwen of Arvada visited the Lessigs. Gary Knudson returned home. Master Sgt. Leonard Sorge of San Antonio visited Gilbert Sorge. The group also visited Sidney and relatives. Dolan Larson and daughters left for California. Bruce Sorge joined the Brauer family for a party. Jolefe Jurgens celebrated her 16th birthday with friends. Roy Lee Bradshaw spent a night with Stewart Sorge. Mrs Louis Jurgens and Mary called on Gilbert Sorge. Hilda Kreinbring and Judy visited Melbeta and attended a Scottsbluff wedding, then Judy stayed with Joyce Heine of Gering. Fines listed for speeding and similar offenses include several residents and places: Mollie Erravio, Maxine Sullivan, Lila Bussey, Clayton Siemers, Edward Dennee, Warren Ritter, Gerald Reeves, and Fred Corn among others.
County Court records list Virgil Needham of Omaha cited for speeding with 11 dollars costs. Henrietta Stevens of Louisville Ky for speeding with 10 dollars costs. Lillian L Valencia Souza Kimball cited for failing to stop and report an accident with 10 dollars costs. Edward Smith jailed 10 days for stealing a ride on a train with costs. C M Davis of Shannock R L speeding with 10 dollars costs. E Dennis Jerome of Omaha and Gerald W Huff of Pasco Neb fined for speeding with 24 and 10 dollars costs respectively. Cresencio Rocha speeding with 10 dollars costs.
The Sidney Draw News Club held its annual picnic at Legion Park on Wednesday the 7th with 12 members present and four absent. Out of town guests included Mrs Frank Kennedy of Stranton California Mrs Norman Heard of Anaheim California Mrs Roy Whitaker and children of Granger Wyoming along with numerous local visitors and multiple dinner guests and anniversary celebrations are noted with several visits to homes and a 50th wedding anniversary observed for Frank and Mrs Kurz.
Richard A. Sklarski of Bridgeview Illinois, Phillip Gordon of Skokie Illinois, George W. Stang of La Crosse Wisconsin, Norman Martin of Chicago Illinois and Benjamin W. Grant of Detroit Michigan all faced speeding fines of 15 dollars plus costs. George W Stang and Norman Martin were joined by Glenn A Adolf and/or Flint Big Co for overweight permit violation with 10 dollars and costs. Lewahn F Hueke of Anaheim is also mentioned.
California driver Gordon Carley and Dalton paid $10 fines and costs for speeding. Thomas J Bailey and Joe Aprdeco cited for intoxication each received five days in jail and costs.
