Trade School at Sioux Army Depot Wins Final Hurdles

Governor Morrison signed LB 928 for a 150000 dollar budget to establish a state trade school at Sioux Army Depot. The plan follows 100000 for an agricultural station and 50000 for manpower training, with operations run by the State Department of Education and planning to begin soon in Sidney and Sioux.

Potter Alumni Reunion Draws Big Crowd

Potter School alumni reunion drew 514 registrants on Sunday with 208 graduates attending. Oldest graduate was Mrs Emme Anderson Henricksen of Loveland Cole from 1908. former teacher Mrs Roy MacAdam noted as oldest former staff. A. B. Connell, ex superintendent, joined the event. Ralph Anderson elected president. Bennie Herboldsheimer secretary. Plans for 1970 reunion underway with distant attendees from Washington Arizona Massachusetts and Oklahoma.

The Sidney Livestock Sales Pavilion posted a top hog price of 24.25 with 215 hogs sold last Saturday. Sows reached 21.35 and feeders 15, while 468 black calves averaged 106 to 114 dollars. Over 800 hogs consigned for a large upcoming Saturday sale in August.

Mishap Ends With Burned Car and $100 Fine

Daniel Foran of Sidney was fined $100 plus costs in Cheyenne County Court for driving while intoxicated after his car hit a dead end north of Lorenzo Saturday night, rolled, and burned. An occupant, John Duffy of Ogallala, was found nearby. no serious injuries reported.

Sidney officers sued in $10000 assault case

Two Sidney police officers Gerald Brestel and John Bauer Jr are defendants in a $10,000 assault and battery suit filed in Cheyenne County District Court. The city found no undue force after reviewing the arrest of Clarence Bills, who claims injuries and medical costs.
