Nebraska Dust Storms Of 1935 Tall Tales And Turmoil
In March 1935 dust storms swept western and central Nebraska with fierce winds of up to sixty miles per hour. University geologists in Lincoln measured about 3,072,000 pounds of dust per square mile. Residents battled dust with mops and brooms while children wrote names in the film on desks. Reports described disrupted trains, stalled cars, and fires as volunteers struggled through the grit in Trenton and other towns. The storms persisted with varying intensity and left a lasting memory of the mid thirties drought amid plowed grasslands.

Tomorrow May Be Too Late For A Correct Will
Lincoln Nebraska readers are urged to prepare wills now by University of Nebraska Extension specialist Mrs Clara Leopold. She notes many overlook assets under joint ownership and that a will names an executor, reduces taxes and expenses, and ensures specific bequests and guardianship of minor children. An attorney is advised to avoid loopholes.
