Cheyenne County Tax Bill Set At 416000 For 12 Months
The Telegraph reports Cheyenne County’s total tax bill for the coming year will be about 416000, based on current valuations and levies approved last week. Schools account for much of the total with 203777.58 by seventy five districts. The county will pay 55541.13 to the state, 52512.03 from a 2.68 mill state levy, 2939.10 from a .15 mill insane levy, and a reduced county levy of 91701.30. The general fund is 49063.47 and relief 19595.04, with bridge and road levies adding 15000. Most districts are in good shape and will begin the new school year with an encouraging outlook. The value of taxable property was trimmed by nearly 70 thousand dollars, and the official commissioners’ proceedings list all valuations and levies.

Grasshopper Hatch Reported In State
O S Bare an extension entomologist at the College of Agriculture notes the second hatch of migratory hoppers has begun in western and southwestern Nebraska. Two Cars Collide At Downtown Intersection Thursday
Two cars driven by Frank Goodwin and R B Hamilton collided at the corner of 14th avenue and Jackson streets Thursday noon. Both machines were badly damaged and could not be driven. Hamilton's car had crushed fenders and a rear wheel out of line. Goodwin's right front wheel was crushed and fenders damaged.

Jacob Nellen, early Cheyenne County resident, died at his daughter Mrs. William Johnson's home in Rock Springs Wyoming on Tuesday. He lived in the county for years before moving to Rock Springs to join his daughter and family. Daughter Mrs. John Livoni of Sidney and son Glen of Chappell are named. body arrived last night. The Nebraska Certified Potato Growers association will skip Cheyenne county due to territory size and time limits. The tour begins August 22 in Kimball at 9 a.m. and continues to Scottsbluff the next day, with a Field Day at Box Butte county experiment farm on August 17 led by the college of agriculture.
