Official Board Proceedings Levy and Indebtedness Paid

The Cheyenne County Board of Commissioners met in Sidney Nebraska on August 3 1906 to approve minutes and audit claims for Road Fund Bridge Fund and other expenditures. The board set levies including General Fund 8 mills County Bridge Fund 18 mills Road Fund 18 mills and two mill levies for county patients and sinking fund. Additional levy directed for District 48 to pay a judgment. August 8 1906 the board reconvened in regular session to issue warrants for numerous expenses including pauper boards registrar fees and insurancetype costs.

Funeral for J C Neubauer Held with Masonic Rites

Last Sunday at 3 o clock mourners gathered at the Neubauer residence for the funeral of J C Neubauer. Rev Corbett of the Escopal church read scriptures and a discourse while a quartet sang favorite songs. The cortege, escorted by the Masonic fraternity, proceeded to the cemetery as rain fell, with pallbearers and attendees from Alliance Lodgepole Ogden Kimball and other areas paying final respects.

Farmers' Fair and Festival Set for September Dates

An adjourned Sidney Commercial Club meeting at the courthouse approved September 21 and 29 as the Farmers' Fair and Festival dates. The Board of Directors may order advertising posters and a committee of B A Jones A K Greenlee and E McLernon will organize a strong exhibit for the state fair.

Oats and farming prosperity highlighted by Iowa report

J B Goodie reports heavy oat yields from Sidney Nebraska with thousands of acres planted signaling growth and a prosperous region. G M Bewley grew the oats on a farm northeast of here with four foot tall stalks and thick heads. Dr F W Hines of Ashland Kansas paused in transit from Yellowstone Park to visit relatives. Mae Harper and J L Kleespie wedding invitations issued for next Wednesday at M E church with reception at the Harper home. P M Bicket returned from St Louis with fond memories of a past visit. Mort Smith and Will Lee visited from Bridgeport on Tuesday.

Railroad Notes Highlight Local Yard Activity and Visits

The U P work train under Conductor Weir has lingered in the area this week while Engineer Stuart and Train Master Clabaugh from the Wyoming Division visited town. Engine 1168S arrives from Cheyenne shops in fresh paint. over fifty stock cars were loaded at the UP yards.
