R H and W H Willis and Fred Smith began haying last week. Ray Pooler works for F W Smith. Mr Harvey Stephens moved into R H Willis old house while teaching at the school. Gus Milestadt stacks grain this week. Mr and Mrs Morrison of Bayard visited Mr and Mrs W H Willis Sunday. A number passed through for the dance at Vivians ranch Friday and reported a fine time.

Attempted death by own action by Cheyenne gambler Hodge Sanders
August 3 dispatch reports Hodge Saunders a well known Cheyenne gambler who tried to kill himself by striking his head on a rock near Crow creek. He wounded himself and was stopped by Emil Peterson and another passerby. Saunders, once prosperous, has faced hard luck and temporary insanity. he is in county custody after being denied admission to the county hospital.

Mrs Annie Ruth Pitts wife of L G Pitts died at age 42 from consumption after months of decline. Born in Ohio 1858 she married L G Pitts in Michigan 1881 and lived in Iowa Nebraska before moving to Sidney and Sidney Draw in Cheyenne county. Survived by husband seven children the family mourns as they arranged a homeward journey when she fell ill. Interment in Cheyenne with funeral at Turnbull parlors described in the Leader.
