Local GOP Chairman Attacks County Attorney Move

Cheyenne County GOP Chairman Ed Narjes criticized the Board of County Commissioners for appointing Democrat P J Heaton Jr to fill the unexpired term of Republican Frank Balderson. Narjes calls the move a political issue by a board with two Democrats and one Republican. He argues John Peetz Jr would have been the logical interim choice, given his close ties to Balderson. Heaton will take office August 15 and plans to run as a Democratic candidate by petition. Narjes says the action creates government confusion and politics in local business.
