Thomas Kokjer Dies In Denver Hospital
Thomas E. Kokjer 64 prominent Sidney automobile dealer and civic leader died at 10 45 AM in a Denver hospital after months of illness including leukemia. Funeral arrangements are by Gehrig and Son. Survivors include wife Isabel three children Carter Kansas City Thomas and Mrs Emerson Scott of Sidney three brothers and one sister. He was a former Sidney city council member Lions Club president American Legion Masonic Lodge Episcopal Church alumnus of the University of Nebraska and a World War I veteran. He came to Sidney in 1932 from Alliance where he worked as a Chevrolet dealer.

William Leo McCracken 60 of Sidney died yesterday morning at N Memorial Hospital after a heart attack at the Sioux Ordnance Depot. Funeral services Monday at 2 p.m. from Bayard Assembly of God Church with Rev. Dale Eden. graveside by American Legion at Bayard Cemetery. Plummer Funeral Home in charge. McCracken never married, born Oct 27, 1895, son of Robert and Bridget McCracken. He farmed east of Bayard for 25 years and worked at the depot the last five. Survived by sister Agnes T. McCracken of Bayard, brothers Charles and John of Bridgeport, and step-mother Nettie McCracken of Bayard.

The court was asked by Lowell J. Williamson in a brief filed Wednesday to reverse Kimball County District Court’s injunction blocking oil and gas drilling on part of Sunny View Heights in Kimball. Reed Construction Co. sued Williamson Gus Rieseberg and others to prevent drilling citing restrictive covenants. the district court found oil and gas development unjustified and that covenants barred wells and that Rieseberg’s covenant execution abandoned his exploration rights.
