Cheyenne County Fair and Race Meeting set for Sidney Nebraska from August 10 to 14 and the September 18 to 21 event schedule lists two back to back county gatherings in the same city with racing and related activities.
L. E. Forrest died after a stroke on Thursday morning at age 59 while visiting his daughter Mrs Ward in Pemberville Ohio. Survived by wife two daughters Mrs Ward and Mrs A C Wyce and brother J W Forrest of Lexington Nebraska, son Harley en route from Detroit. Presbyterian services will be held at the family home in Pemberville. The Telegraph extends sympathy to the bereaved family.
A baby girl was born early this week to Mr and Mrs James Furst near the Colorado line southeast of Sidney with Dr Mantor as the attending physician. A son was born July 30 to Mr and Mrs Bismarck Runge. Directors of the Cheyenne County Fair Association are summoned to meet at the Commercial Club rooms on Saturday August 10 at 2 pm.

Cheyenne County Nebraska Board of Commissioners met after July adjournment. Barlow chairs as contracts awarded for Road 206A cement culvert at 10900, Court House plumbing and building estimates approved, bonds and warrants authorized, and multiple road district and bridge fund payments audited. Board adjourns to August 8, 1912.
Miss Ella Erickson serves as clerk for the Sidney Mercantile Company during Eva Seidow's absence, handling duties in the store.
Mrs Fannie Tobin delightfully entertained at a five o'clock four course dinner on Wednesday. Pink and white sweet peas and babies breath decorated the center and boutonnières at every place. Guests praised her cooking and enjoyed a menu that sparked merriment and memories among a social circle including Mrs Letts Mrs Zeibert Mrs Shirley Wilson and others.
Mrs Emily Pfeifer hosted a Saturday afternoon German luncheon in blue and white decor. Guests included Mrs Schuff of Grand Island Mrs Wilson of Omaha and Cologne visitors Miss Kampman and Mrs Ziebert among others. A five course German menu impressed guests while Mrs Barton won a palmist prize. The host noted guests often seek glimpses of the future.
Peter Brown a Greek laborer with a Union Pacific extra gang at Bronson was shot in the left thigh by a revolver carried by a companion. The discharge was accidental and the wound is painful but not dangerous. He was taken to Sidney to Dr Cantor and later confined at the Olean Hotel while healing.
Former Sidney public school teacher Mrs Julia Shelton Bell writes from Austin Texas greeting Sidney friends through the Telegraph and wishing them well Her husband Rev J E Bell recently left for Birmingham Alabama for the summer possibly to make it their home The W C T U president received a farewell reception and an amethyst brooch as thanks for her work and service to the society.
Union Pacific operations appear strong as H P Samson of Pinebluffs supplies Ernest Worden who in turn serves Mr Shoemaker during vacation. Cahill from Omaha visits Sidney to review double track work. Letts resigns, Sage of Omaha succeeds. Sparr hired as a watchman. UP and Burlington report weather damages with washouts near Peetz. Hastings and Northwestern line eyed to link UP Nebraskas with Kansas, via Gibbon to St Joseph and Grand Island.

The Frontier Days Celebration is set to draw more cars and motorcycles than Cheyenne has ever seen. Roads from all directions are in excellent condition and hundreds of Western summer tourists plan to visit. Cheyenne sits on the transcontinental route and Yellowstone highway with a good drive to Denver. A 300 strong delegation from the Short Grass Club of Kansas will join the festival. The program starts August 14 and runs the rest of the week.
Superintendent Braham traveled to boost next week's Chautauqua in Sidney. The program promises the Loveland lecture, Nashville Serenaders, a colored quartet, a magician, and Imperial Guards Band, with season tickets offering savings and children under six guided by a playground expert during five days of events.

Dr. C. C. Farrell of Cozad and Dr. A. N. Reed of Farnam Neb were in the city Sunday and Monday as guests of Dr. Mantor. Dr. Reed plans to open a dental office in the Gapen Building about September 1.
Mrs Seidow and her daughter Eva left Wednesday morning for a short visit with friends in Omaha.
Mrs Ernest Stuht left last Sunday for a two week visit with her parents in Lincoln.
The Chautauqua will be held on school grounds through courtesy of the school board. The venue is ideal and central, emphasizing the educational nature of the event.
Announcements report the marriage of Eric A. Krussman and Sacred Marie Johnson in Pocatello Idaho on a Saturday in July. The couple planned a Sidney home ceremony but Krussman could not leave his work. The bride, daughter of N P Johnson, is a book-keeper at Union Pacific Hotel. The Telegraph extends best wishes.
Frank Kurz of Sidney and Bessie VanAlstyne of Fort Lupton Colo were married at 10 am Wednesday August 7 at the Catholic Church with attendants Mr and Mrs John Kurz. A dinner followed at Otto Kurz ranch and a dance in the evening. The couple will reside with groom’s brother John on the farm. Also H M Miyoshi and Jennie Walker both of Denver were wed by County Judge Gapen on Monday August 5. GARABANT SYDENHAM Vera Sydenham of Kearney Neb married by Rev E J Hayes on Saturday August 3. MEYER EASTON Meyer and Easton both of Peetz Colo married Thursday August 8 at the Methodist parsonage by Rev E J Hayes.
The State Board of Equalization tells forty nine counties to show cause by August 13 why land values should not rise. Proposed increases range from five to thirty percent with Cheyenne County listed for fifteen percent. Chairman L R Barlow of the Board of Commissioners plans to meet the Board at Lincoln next Tuesday to argue that the rise would push Cheyenne County above Devel and neighboring counties.
Mr and Mrs N P Johnson entertained for their daughter Sagred on July 19 before her departure for Pocaterda. Relatives and many friends gathered to wish her luck and happiness in her forthcoming marriage.
