Candidates Filed Ahead of September Primary Skirmish

Nebraska voters face a crowded field with 28 county offices open and eight clerks plus eight other roles contested. The slate includes precinct, party splits and fusion candidates across clerk, treasurer, sheriff, judge, superintendent, coroner, assessor, surveyor, and commissioner posts.

Excellent Crops on the North Divide in Nebraska Visit

Prof E A Burnett head of the State Agricultural Department at Lincoln visited Sidney with Commercial Club escorts to tour fine local farms. He praised H C Anderson Gus Schmidt Subiel and Hedges Bros for standout crops and soil work while Moore Bros showed new residence construction and steam plow progress. Acreage includes 20 acres of winter wheat at B F Krei with expected yields, and Burnett plans to send grain for experiments from North Platte.

Edmund Lane of Simla seeks the Republican nomination for county superintendent. He studied in England and at Fremont and Lincoln normals and has lived in Simis. Charlie Hadley, Democratic candidate for county clerk, is praised for clerical ability shown in the assessor’s office. A new passenger rate law halves Nebraska mileage fares to North Platte and Sidney, with three cents per mile to Colorado, after Senator Sibley’s Interstate Commerce Commission complaint.

Colton worker injured in tie unloading incident

A Colton section gang member suffered a severe foot crush when a tie rolled from a loaded car as assistants worked nearby. He was transported to Cheyenne where the foot was amputated.
