Sidney Auto Races Start This Afternoon
The Sidney Jockey Club opens a three day auto racing meet at the Fair Grounds this afternoon. It is Sidney’s first regular meet with purses totaling about 3500 dollars. Above five races a day are expected with top pilots and speedsters, including Bear Cat Coops and Wild Bill Endicott among noted contestants.

Army Motor Convoy Welcomed by Sidney
The U S Army motor convoy arrived in Sidney two days behind schedule during a transcontinental tour. Local officials and the Lincoln Highway group hosted a lunch and arranged hotels for officers and enlisted men before the journey continued toward Kimball. The past week saw two Sidney pool halls change owners. J A Suckstorf sold his hall to Joseph Simodynes in the Maz zara building basement on West Tincoln Highway. Reisdorf hall in the First National Bank basement is now owned by LL QO Fundingsland who plans to sell. Reisdorf and his brother will start a new business in Pine Bluffs Wyoming. Suckstorf has not decided his next venture.

About one hundred fifty Nebraska newspaper people arrived by rail, met by Sidney officials, and hosted at the M E church luncheon. They toured Sidney and area by special train, with plans to visit Dalton and Gurley but limited by schedule. The group included a brass band and performers, and photos were taken on the courthouse lawn before continuing to Northport and Gering for a reception and banquet.

The Farmers Union picnic in Olson's grove west of Sidney drew a light crowd due to rain and threatening weather yet members reported a successful gathering. Stock sales reached about 6 000 dollars and July business topped 85 000 dollars while January to July total exceeded 234 000 dollars. A jovial family reunion for the Chambers clan celebrated Lieut. Guy Chambers' overseas return with twenty six relatives present and a large dinner.
