Community Society News Notes From Local Meetings
The Women’s Society of Christian Service held a Thursday afternoon meeting at the Methodist church parlors with Mrs. M. L. Anthony presiding. Leaders included Mrs. Charles Hancock, Mrs. F. E. Longan, and speakers on welfare. A memorial service honored late Mrs. C. A. Foster. Friday events included a pre-nuptial shower for Miss Orla Batt at the Lutheran parish, and St. Paul’s Lutheran Aid met at Mrs. Irvin Fischer’s home with devotional and handkerchief showers for departing members. Additional entries cover Dorcas Society, Rebekah Lodge, Thimble Club, and Christian Women’s Fellowship activities with refreshments and programs throughout the week.

Flood relief effort aids Cheyenne County victims
The Cheyenne County flood relief drive by the Lions Club and Red Cross collects household goods and clothing at the Sidney National Guard Armory. A $500 donation was approved to meet a $5 million national goal, with ongoing needs and drop off on Wednesday and Saturday.
