Frontier officials head meeting with 18 station managers

Frontier Airlines plans a two day meeting August six and seven in Lincoln with 18 station managers from Nebraska cities and from St Paul and Kansas City. Brock and Oliver Brunt will discuss a new intensified sales program to double passenger and cargo traffic. The release notes added staff and new services including Lincoln to Kansas City flights and a Casper Omaha route.

Bingo License Approved for Fort Sidney Days at Cheyenne County Fair

Cheyenne County Commissioners approved a bingo license for the Fort Sidney Days Corporation, submitted by the Sidney Jaycees. Jaycee president Henry Mersenburg said the license may be used at the Cheyenne County Fair on August 19-20. In other business, the panel accepted a low bid of 15945 for a front end loader from Construction Service Equipment Co. of North Platte.

Cow Dies in collision with car near Sidney

An unidentified cow was killed on a county road Sunday night after moving into the path of a car driven by Jessé James White 38 of Sidney. White said he was eastbound near the intersection of highways 113 and 123 when the animal emerged from a borrow pit. The car suffered a smashed front end with damages estimated at 250 dollars.

The sheriff seeks a brown tan two tone late model car after it passed a home Monday evening and two men fired at a car as a 10 year old girl and her mother stood nearby. The kitten was hit but survived and is recovering.

Sidney Man Fined On Two Counts in County Court

Richard Burke of Sidney was fined 75 dollars and costs on two counts in Cheyenne County Court. He received 50 dollars and costs for procuring liquor for a minor and 25 dollars and costs for depositing refuse on a public highway.

Law Institute in Sidney on 60th Legislature Acts

About 75 to 100 members of the Western Nebraska Bar Association attend a one day institute in Sidney on legislation from the 60th State Legislature. Speakers include former Gov Robert B Crosby and A Lee Bloomingdale with topics on motor vehicle laws taxation and court procedure.

Former Daltonite Fined On 2 Driving Charges

Joseph Van Anne formerly of Dalton and now in Denver pleaded guilty to a drunken driving charge and was fined 100 dollars plus costs. His license was suspended six months. In a second incident he paid a 25 dollar fine in County Court for reckless driving.

415 Sheep Arrive Here Under New Ewe Distribution Program

Sidney becomes a distribution center for 415 yearling ewes from Montana as part of a Nebraska College of Agriculture program to supply good quality sheep at low prices. In total 1,235 sheep arrived at three centers in Nebraska this week with 600 to Columbus and 220 to Curtis. The Cheyenne-Deuel Sheep Producers Association and Nebraska Extension service coordinate the effort to place sheep with local farmers, offering bulk purchase and local salebarn pickup, aiming to boost sheep farming and introduce new buyers to the industry.

Two Escape Injury In Gar Truck Mishap

Two men escaped injury in a two vehicle collision four miles west of Sidney on Highway 30. Arthur L. Trude of Sidney, 35, drove a car making a right turn when a truck hit the rear end. Neither driver was injured. The truck had no damage and Trude’s car sustained about forty dollars in damage.

Vandal Suspect Ties, Damage Reported on Tinacis Street

Damaged scene along Tinacis Street after an incident Tuesday where vandals tied a sakie and tore into part of another object. Police retorted that the vandalism involved tying and ripping, with no further details available.

Potter Man Dies in Cheyenne Guard Had Long Service

Guy V. Hite 63 died Monday at Veterans Hospital Cheyenne after ten days illness. A Potter resident for 46 years he worked 13 years as a guard at Sioux Ordnance Depot. Sidney Native Dies of Heart Attack at Farm Home

Bismark Ernest Runge a 73 year old Sidney native died suddenly Monday evening of a heart attack at his farm home six miles west of Sidney He was married to Josephine Sager and operated a local farm Survivors include eight sons six daughters three sisters two brothers and fourteen grandchildren Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery with Craig Mortuary in charge The death followed a long life on local farms born June 7 1886 in Sidney.
