Allotment Hike Affects 1967 Panhandle Wheat Output

Wheat production in eleven Panhandle counties of Nebraska for 1967 rose 30 percent in allotments, helping approach the 1966 crop despite losses from hail disease and frost. Sidney Guard Heads to Fort Carson for Two Weeks Training

The Sidney National Guard platoon departs at 10:45 Saturday for tactical maneuvers at Fort Carson Colorado with 37 soldiers and 12 vehicles led by Second Lt Kent B Miller. They join a battalion convoy at Sterling junction and will return August 20 after two weeks of surveying radar and meteorological work with the 5th Mechanized Division.

Late Fall Maturation Focus for Corn Beans in Dryland and Irrigated Crops

With wheat harvest near finish and a strong elevator crop, farmers eye late maturing crops especially irrigated beans and corn. Wheat yields around 24 bushels per acre. hail and cold spells reduced beans, corn, and beets, some replanted. NFO Calls Special Meet in Cheyenne County

The National Farmer's Organization of Cheyenne County will hold a special monthly meeting on Tuesday August 8 at 8 pm in the National Guard Armory. MITCHELL The Scotts Bluff Station field day on August 17 will feature tours of the station in the morning and a noon barbecue.
