High Plains Field Day aims to showcase millet sorghum and grasses
The High Plains Ag Lab Field Day at the High Plains Ag Lab north of Sidney features millet sorghum and forage topics. The program opens at 9am with welcome by Glen Frickel, a millet industry talk by Terry Hall, then field tours on weed control millet varieties and irrigation trials led by researchers from Colorado State University and the University of Nebraska. Refreshments follow served by the Wheatbelt Public Power District.

Puppets highlight VBS day camp at Lodgepole Valley
Vacation Bible School sponsored by Sidney Church of Christ ended with a parent program. The session theme was Gods Way For The Family. Puppets Sally and Jose helped reinforce lessons for 162 enrollees aged three to young adults. Supplies were provided by Dottie and Jill Prock of Altus, with Jerry Sanders directing Bible study and singing.

NRD budget hearing set for Tuesday night at Fort Sidney
The South Platte Natural Resources District boards hold a 7 30 p m public hearing on a proposed 14 million budget at the Fort Sidney Motor Hotel followed by their monthly meeting. Budget includes Oliver Dam project funded largely by federal and state sources with 118 670 to be raised by property taxes from a 0 94 mill levy unchanged. Items include personnel policy wildlife habitat plan floodwater issues and irrigation scheduling.

Sidney Board of Education sets 2.16 million budget hearing
