Combine Owner Awarded 3000 in Oklahoma Court
Edward E Stewart of Carmen Oklahoma won a 3000 judgment from a district court jury Friday night for damage to a combine after an accident near Sidney in July 1957. The trial lasted one day with nearly five hours of deliberation. Stewart had sued B I Whitlock and Eugene E Gardner of Sterling Colorado for 3124 50 alleging the truck driven by Gardner forced him into a ditch to avoid a collision. No injuries were reported.

Orville Beck Dies at 35 Funeral Set for Wednesday
Orville Morris Beck 35 a Kokjer Motor Company bookkeeper died at Memorial Hospital after six months of illness. Brief services are planned Wednesday at Gehrig and Son Funeral Home at 8 am with Rev Townsend, and final rites at Cozad Methodist Church at 3 pm with Rev Nye Bond presiding. Born December 28 1923 in Gothenburg Neb he lived there until moving to Sidney in 1957. He married Irene Ross October 12 1947 at Cozad. Surviving are his wife a daughter Cynthia Kay 5 his parents one sister Mrs Marshall Marron of South America and a brother Barton Beck of Gothenburg.

Auction Next Fund Raising For Band Trip
The Sidney Band plans a May 5 auction at the Sidney Sales Pavilion to raise funds for its June trip to the Rose Festival in Portland Oregon. Emerald Rapp donates facility use and time, with proceeds going entirely to the band. Earl Bishop chairs the drive and a truck will collect donated merchandise on May 2 from downtown Sid ney and May 4 from residential areas.

Wisconsin Man Sentenced to Five Years for Rape
Leonard Revels, 48, of Spasta, Wisconsin, pled guilty and received a five year term in the Nebraska Penitentiary on a statutory rape charge in Cheyenne County District Court. The case involved a 16 year old Wisconsin girl who is now in Cheyenne County jail on juvenile delinquency charges.

Sterling man may face assault charges in Sidney case
County Attorney Frank Balderson said he is studying assault with intent to do great bodily injury charges against Clyde Kent of Sterling Colo and an unidentified man for a Saturday night home invasion that left L V Skeet Hardy with severe injuries. Police found blood throughout the Hardy residence and Mrs Hardy had called for help. Authorities also consider charges related to an earlier altercation between Lee Maddox and Hardy over a truck repair bill. Kent was jailed on a 50 dollar bond and local investigators seek to identify the second man.
