Luck With Two Airmen Over Kimball
An Air Force T 33 trainer from Maxwell AFB piloted by Maj J D Biscayart and Lt D L Haynie ran out of gas while landing near Kimball California. The jet skimmed a cable tool rig and skidded 230 yards into a mud pit near oil wells on the Stevens lease. Both officers escaped unhurt as crews begin removing the aircraft.

Funeral services were held at Kimball for Alonzo Arthur Neely 98 pioneer settler of Western Nebraska. He died April 20 in Loveland Colorado where he lived since 1950. Born December 17 1857 in Woodman Wisconsin he arrived in 1885 settling in Morrill County and later Banner County. He married Eva Maude Perry at Sidney August 6 1889. She died in 1940. The couple lived in Cheyenne 1893 and later in Idaho Oregon and Denver.

The Cheyenne County Historical Association heard a report that vandals disturbed and removed fossils from a recently discovered oil pit. Dick Herman, newly elected president, said bone layers were spaded up and valuable bones possibly taken. The group plans a storage area in a school basement and will list early members by May 15.

Jeep Driver Killed in East Lodgepole Crash
Clay ton Gerber 25 of Chappell died in a morning collision on Highway 30 east of Lodgepole. His spray-equipped jeep collided with a westbound stock truck driven by Wilbur Wood 23 of Brule, then left the road and rolled. Funeral services were set for the Mennonite Church near Chappell with burial in Harper Kansas. Gerber recently moved to Chappell, was married and had two children.

Bruce Boelter 24 of Sterling faces a reckless driving charge in Cheyenne County Court after a one car crash east of Sidney at about 1 am. He drove north on Highway 19 then failed to turn at Highway 30, rolled into a field, and was hospitalized in good condition. Vehicle damage was estimated at 450 dollars by the Nebraska Safety Patrol.

Two Injured In Gering Car Mishap
Two Cheyenne Countians Cecil Tremain and Kenneth Earnhart were injured in a one car crash on a Gering street last week. Earnhart suffered a cracked shoulder, dislocated shoulder, severe facial cuts needing about one hundred stitches. Tremain was not hospitalized after the lights of an oncoming car blinded him causing the vehicle to leave the road and hit an embankment on a dead end street.

The Cheyenne County District Court voir dire ended with a hung jury in Nebco Cable Tool Co. versus Flader Industries Inc. on a $12 310 claim for work on the Barrett No 1 oil well. Patrol duo nets auto thief in quick Nebraska arrest
Nebraska Safety Patrol Sergeant Mel Buschist and Patrol Radio Dispatcher Earl Elliott, both of Sidney, arrested Merlin Wynia 18, an Air Force member at Warren AFB, for stealing a 1950 auto in Cheyenne. A Wyoming license plate and rapid data check led to the stop near Lodgepole after the vehicle was spotted filling at a Sidney service station. Wynia offered no resistance and was to be taken to Sidney for prosecution.
