Motors and Their Care for Safe Automobile Use

An automobile fires more from backfire than other causes and extra care reduces risk. Lean fuel can cause a flame from the carburetor air intake. Use soap to remove tar spots after softening with Vaseline and rinse thoroughly. Check brakes for freedom and lack of dragging and ensure they hold with pressure. Train for rattles at varying speeds and fix door and fender noises to improve ride. Avoid driving on road shoulders to protect tires and yield when passing signals. When passing, pull right to allow the other driver to pass. Use ample water for washing but not high pressure to avoid forcing grit into varnish and cracks. Soak hard mud spots, rub sparingly, and avoid lye soap which dulls varnish. Final wipe greatly influences wash results. Never use hot water.
