Pasture plan seen as aid in production
Cheyenne County drought reduced rangeland output but a planned grazing system may restore production. About 107000 acres of rangeland could benefit from rest period grazing on 184000 acres total. Rest periods allow root food reserves to build, promoting vigorous regrowth and improved range conditions. Local examples show scheduled rest helps drought tolerance. ranchers are urged to plan with the Extension Service, Soil Conservation Service, or South Platte NRD.
