Art Guild opens third annual show at Elwell Motors
The Cheyenne County Art Guild opened its third annual exhibit Saturday at 909 Illinois St in the Elwell Motors showroom. The free show runs daily 9 to 5 30 except Thursday 9 to 8 and Sunday 1 to 5 concluding next Sunday. More than 100 works by local artists are displayed with pottery stained glass and paintings for sale.

Wind erosion losses hit Cheyenne County crops
About 40,000 acres of Cheyenne County cropland were damaged by wind erosion, with topsoil losses around 85,000 tons valued at about 150,000 dollars. Soil Conservation Service marks 40 years of work in Cheyenne County
In Cheyenne County the Soil Conservation Service marks 40 years since the 1935 act created districts. Since 1946 the SCS office has guided 416 farmers and ranchers into conservation programs, built 350 dams, 2,500 miles of terraces, 12,000 acres reseeded to pasture, 8,000 acres leveled for irrigation, and 175,000 acres under strip cropping, with projects ranging from watershed flood control to windbreaks and waste control systems at 10 feedlots.
