Methodists Plan New Church School Building At Sidney
The Sidney Methodist Church plans a religious education building west of the present church to meet rapid growth. The project could cost up to 100000 dollars under a pay-as-you-build program to allow debt-free dedication. The conference authorized preliminary steps and a future congregational vote, with final decisions at Grand Island May 28 to June 2. Dr. Benj. F. Schwartz will be retained as pastor for another year and may devote full time to Sidney with a $1000 annual salary increase. The plan includes pastoral services to the Community Church at Sioux Ord nance Depot and sharing time with Gurley Methodist Church.

Duncan Going To New Post At San Francisco Ordnance District
Rae Duncan, longtime personnel director at the Sioux Ordnance Depot, is promoted to personnel administrator at the San Francisco Ordnance District. He will start May 5 and oversee personnel for twelve western depots while his family remains at SOD until July. Duncan joined SOD as an army officer July 20, 1943, later becoming personnel director in 1945 and civilian personnel officer in 1945, holding the role to now.

Sidney high school musicians returned from Scottsbluff with the most superior ratings among Class B schools, sharing top honors with Gering. Sidneys bands and vocal groups earned a total of ten superiors, eight excellents, and four goods, with numerous soloists also cited for high ratings. Gering followed with nine superiors and many excellents. In Class D, Dalton schools also secured superior ratings courtesy of Karen Westerhoff and the Dalton band, with several excellents and goods among Dalton performers.

Reclamation Completes Overhead Wire Upgrades
The Bureau of Reclamation announced completion of overhead static wire installation on the 115 kv system from Seminoe to Greeley and Seminoe to Gering in western Nebraska and Wyoming. The project, begun to upgrade 1940 lines, adds overhead ground wires to drain lightning, reducing outages and restoring two way power for REA customers and other communities.

County Fair to be One Day Shorter in 1952
The Cheyenne County Fair will run two days shorter than prior years with stock car racing on August 21 and 22 under the Devil's Motor Club of Sidney. Entry day is August 20 with judging the next day, vaudeville acts Thursday and Friday nights, free gate classes, 4-H contests, and a Tractor Contest. The Fair Board meets May 12 to finish details.
