Delegates will attend the Grand Island State Convention April 23 25 where Romana Freman and Arline Clark are named for Dist. 6 leadership roles. The Devel County Centennial Committee met in Big Springs City Hall to view "This is Nebraska" and discuss plans in Chappell including a windbreak dedication at the grade school. Activities span churches, 4-H workshops, youth rallies, and a revised school district reeorganization effort.

Speech Winners Chosen In Devel County 4-H Contest
The Devel County 4-H speaking contest at the County Courthouse featured five senior junior and sub junior contestants. Senior winner Karen Peeks of Chappell will go to the April 24 district contest in Bridgeport with a talk titled Prescription Democratic Education. Julie Duffield also spoke for Chappell with a red ribbon talk Do We as Americans Take Our Heritage Seriously. Virginia Hayes of the Polly Anns 4-H Club led the juniors with Live Wire 4-H News earning a blue ribbon. Tom Cabela and Steve Richards from Chappell earned white and red ribbons for My Big Decision and My Future in 4-H. Judges were Mrs. Burton Smith and Rev. Austin Railton.
