Sidney shoppers flocked for Buck Days with sales up 10 to 15 percent over last year. Mrs. Howard Portz won a two person trip to Denver via Frontier Air Lines with stays at the Denver Continental Motor Hotel. The award was given at 4 p.m. Saturday as Sidneys Chamber of Commerce boosted a three day event that drew visitors from eight Western Nebraska counties and three northeastern Colorado counties.

85-Year-Old Woman Injured In Sund Collision
An 85-year-old Wyoming woman, her daughter and granddaughter escaped with minor injuries after a car truck collision Friday evening at the Union Pacific tracks and U S Highway 30. Betty Lou Witt, 18, of Hillsdale Wyoming, drove the car. Enos John Moore, 33, of Greeley Nebraska, drove the truck and trailer. Miss Witt had no injuries. her mother Mable Witt, 46, and Cora Witt, 85, sustained minor cuts. The truck driver was uninjured. The accident occurred about 6 30 p m with heavy front damage to the Witt car and no damage to the truck.

A t W Wilson of Columbus was elected president of the Nebraska Collectors Assn at the 18th annual convention held Saturday in the Fort Sidney Motor Hotel. Other officers chosen were Robert Books of Broken Bow as vice president Ida Miller of Kearney as secretary treasurer and L V Sylvester of Omaha as national director. J E Kelly of Sidney outgoing president conducted installaton ceremonies after a 630 banquet. Attendance from 26 of 32 offices attended Lincoln was named the site for the 1960 meeting.

Alliance Livestock Commission handled about 5500 head with top price of 40.30 per cwt paid to A. A. Fenske and Son of Sunol for 493 lb small Angus steers. A special train and multiple truckloads shipped to nine mid western states. Jerry Pitman of Dalton won 25 pound Angus steer at 31.40, Don Dickinson of Sterling sold 536 lb Angus steers for 36.10, and Fenske also had a 498 lb Angus heifer lot at 34.70.

Rotarians Name Sidney Fuller District Governor Pick
Sidney farmer Clark Fuller, a 26 year Rotarian and former club president, was chosen as district governor for Rotary district 563 to take office July 1. Harry Russell was re-elected treasurer and Lyle Mantor was nominated for 1960-61. Fuller and his wife will attend the International Assembly at Lake Placid and the Rotary Convention in New York City.

Businessman Wayne Atwood Dies Suddenly at Town Store
Wayne C. Atwood, 1837 15th Ave, owner of Town and Country Liquor Store, died of a heart seizure Sunday morning at Memorial Hospital. He was stricken at work and pronounced dead on arrival. Survived by wife Catherine and one daughter. Funeral arrangements are pending Craig Mortuary in charge.

An 18 year old Wesleyan freshman Miss Rosalie Swanson, daughter of Mr and Mrs Ed Swanson of Sidney, won the Miss Fort Sidney crown at the Jaycee Pageant. She played Deep Purple in talent and will gain a 100 scholarship plus trip to the Miss Nebraska Pageant. First runnerup Roberta Needham and second runnerup Sherri Baumann also performed readings.

Amundsen Dies After Stroke in Las Vegas
Harry Amundsen, once Sidney cafe owner and later a Sioux Ordnance Depot employee, died in Las Vegas Nevada after a stroke Saturday morning. He and his wife had left Sidney for a western vacation two weeks earlier and planned to visit friends there. The couple moved to Sidney from Hartington years ago and ran The Green Lantern Cafe before he worked at the depot. Funeral arrangements were not set by noon today and Mrs Amundsen planned to bring the body home Tuesday night aboard the Union Pacific City of Los Angeles.

Snow and Thunder Collide in Nebraska Panhandle Weather
A storm bringing snow rain and subfreezing temperatures moved through the Nebraska Panhandle over the weekend. Sidney saw light snow melt quickly while Caudron reported four inches, and thunder accompanied a brief snow squall in Sidney. Temperatures hovered near freezing with highs near 50 expected soon as warming returns over the next five days. Farmers report winter barley suffering from the cold while winter wheat shows slow growth amid cool conditions.

Pop Golden in Critical Condition After Brain Surgery
Pop Golden, a city employee for 14 years, was taken to a Cheyenne hospital yesterday morning and underwent surgery last evening to remove two brain blood clots. Relatives report his condition this morning as critical. The injury is believed to have been caused by a minor head blow received earlier. Mrs. Golden and their son Orvin Golden accompanied him to Cheyenne.

Scottsbluff reports a 13 percent drop in labor supply with 669 job seekers and 147 openings. Mrs. Emanuel Brauer dies at 61 after illness
Mrs. Emanuel Brauer, 61, died Sunday morning at Memorial Hospital after a several month illness. Funeral services will be Thursday at two for South Divide Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. D W Behrends officiating. Interment in church cemetery. She was a 40 year resident of Cheyenne County born Anna Moeller in 1897.
