The Don Musgrove Construction Co of North Platte won the general contract for Lodgepole High School with a base bid of 175 440, Gunnarsson Plumbing and Heating 39 368, and Snell Electric 12 375. Alternate bids raised total to 234 464 under a 267 000 bond. Construction to begin in May east of the current building, aiming for next year’s graduation.

A University of Nebraska College of Business Administration report states Cheyenne County's population rose from 12,08 in 1950 to an estimated 16,654 in 1958, with Sidney growing from about 4,900 to near 8,000.
