Rites Held For U P Employee Meyers 62
Last rites were held at Potter for Richard S. Meyers 62 who died April 14 after a five week hospital stay. Services were at the Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Janson officiating. Burial in Potter Cemetery. Meyers, born May 1 1891 in Abington Iowa, lived there until 14, moved to Central City Nebraska, later Cheyenne Wyoming and Potter community in 1936. He worked for Union Pacific. Survivors include widow Bessie Huff Meyers four daughters two sons sixteen grandchildren three sisters and two brothers. He was preceded in death by two sons Richard and Thomas.

Kenneth K. Knapp, 59, former Sidney resident, died of a heart attack in Sterling Colorado. Born November 12, 1893 in Clyde Kansas, he married Esther Witter in 1915. Survived by wife, three sons, brother, sister, and burial in Clyde. Funeral arrangements handled by A. D. Jackson & Son Mortuary.

Dedication for Sidney Masonic Temple Set Friday Evening
Services for Sidney’s new Masonic Temple will be held Friday evening April 24 at 7 30 o clock with Masons and Eastern Star members invited. An attendance of at least 300 is planned and ten Grand Officers of Nebraska Masonry are expected, including Edward M Knight and Raymond C Cook. The ceremony caps months of effort by Sidney Masons and Eastern Stars to unveil a state class temple occupying the second floor of the Hardy Clark Furniture store on Jackson street. The complex features a 70 by 36 foot main room, a smaller meeting hall, five paraphernalia rooms, carpeted floors, a 30 by 20 foot reception and dining area, an up to date kitchen and rest rooms, with the large room seating 100 and the smaller about 52.

Fort Sidney Days scheduling for June 18 to 20 1953 centers on costumes recalling the region 1950s era features one large parade a historical pageant two nights and a Square Dance festival.
