Sidney Hosts District Six Music Contest for 1200 Students
Western Nebraska youths from 35 communities descend on Sidney for two day District Six Music Contest. Bands from 22 schools compete in classes with the Sidney high school band in Class B. Events run 8 or 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, with a Wednesday evening program featuring soloists and small groups. Judges include personnel from Chadron State College Sterling Colorado Nebraska and the University of Nebraska. housing arranged by the band auxiliary.

Sterling Man Found Dead Along U P Tracks Near Sidney
Edward Wm. Leseberg 69 of Sterling Colo was found beside Union Pacific tracks near Hecker's Trailer Court west of Sidney. Investigators consider foul play or mental illness while noting a stopped watch, a hat on a train, and that he may have been walking east with injuries to his back. Leseberg, a Rawleigh Products salesman, had a prior nervous breakdown and memory lapses. His car was found near Rail's Cafe and funeral arrangements were made through Gehrig Funeral Home.

Mowrer Rites Held Monday
Funeral services for Walter C. Mowrer 70 were held Monday at the Sidney Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. B. F. Schwartz presiding. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites. Mowrer, born September 20 1882 in Wabash County Indiana, lived in Nebraska since 1886 and farmed in Cheyenne County. He is survived by his widow two children five grandsons and two sisters.
