Stage Set for Panhandle Farm Equipment Show
The first Panhandle Farm Equipment and Progress Day unfolds April 21 at the Egging farm near Gurley. Co sponsored by University of Nebraska College of Agriculture and Sidney Implement Dealers Assn. the event expects 5 000 to 8 000 attendees with 30 plus manufacturers displaying farm machinery. Demonstrations cover mulch farming fertilizers herbicides till planting sugar beets haying irrigation and more. Education will include a Soil Conservation model and weed control while leaders from Saskatchewan Canada and Nebraska officials attend. University of Nebraska experts and western Nebraska stations back the program with statewide publicity and advance reservations indicate broad manufacturer participation. Continuous free transport from Sidney airport and downtown Sidney is arranged. The Egging farm near Sidney hosts hundreds of thousands of dollars in machinery on display.

Spring Parents Night Set For April 21
The Sidney Junior and Senior High Schools announce a joint Parents Night on Wednesday April 21 at 7 p.m. in the Junior High auditorium with seventh grade orientation, a film Motivation For Living by Bob Richards at 8 p.m. in the Senior High auditorium, and a vote by parents for two advisory council members followed by a social hour. Exhibits and demonstrations run 7 to 8 p.m. in both buildings.

3000 Trees Are Ordered by Nebraska Farmers
More than 2.5 million trees and shrubs were ordered under the Clarke-McNary program, with Cheyenne County residents placing 3000 trees. Delays in digging due to late spring pushed shipment back, per University of Nebraska Extension forester Karl Loerch. Orders will support farmstead windbreaks, field windbreaks, sheltering for livestock and wildlife, and commercial plantings. Some Clarke-McNary stock remains available through county Extension offices and soil conservation districts. Austrian Pine, Scotch Pine, choke cherry, and honeysuckle are no longer offered, but other windbreak suitable species remain.

Higher Hog Prices Expected If Farmers Implement Plans
Lincoln dispatch reports University of Nebraska Extension Agricultural economist P A Henderson says hog prices may rise about 15 percent this year through spring to fall if farmers carry out planned actions. Slaughter was down January through March, and hogs on farms and in cold storage also declined from the prior year. Sows farrowings in North Central states from Sept 1964 to Feb 1965 fell 7 to 8 percent versus the prior year.

Rehearing Denied on Nebraska Transmission Line Case

Conoco completes purchase for expansion in Sidney
Continental Oil Co has completed the purchase of additional property adjacent to its Conoco station at 12th Ave and Illinois St in Sidney for expansion and modernization. Seller Leonard Fine will transfer a one story brick building between the Conoco station and the alley, enabling a half block deep clearing on 12th Ave. Purchase price is around 24000 dollars. The old station site has roots dating to the 1920s. A deer was killed on Highway 30 near Sidney when a car struck a herd crossing the road. Damage to the car was about 200 dollars. No firm business plans announced.
