Decker Takes 3rd in FBLA Stenographer I Contest
Susan Decker placed third in the Stenographer I contest at the FBLA conference in Omaha. She earned a trophy and certificate amid tests of Accounting I to Business Communications, with over 400 students per test and 1100 attendees overall. The event ran Thursday to Saturday at the Omaha Hilton Hotel with sessions, a parade, a dance, and a banquet.

SHS teacher named judge for NCTE writing awards
SHS English teacher Dorothy Holloway has been named a regional judge for the 1977 National Council of Teachers of English Achievement Awards for writing. The program honors about 800 high school seniors nationwide, with nominations totaling nearly 8,000 this year.

Journalists Gather for Sidney High Seminar in Kearney
Sidney High School Journalism I and II students attend the ninth annual workshop sponsored by Kearney State College on its campus. The program runs 9:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with five sessions covering newspapers yearbooks cartooning photography and magazines. Speakers include KSC staff students high school advisers and journalists Bill Dunn and Dianne Garbrukiewicz. Terry Meisenbach says the conference provides valuable information to improve school publications.

Chadron Music Contest set with high hopes for Sidney entries
Chadron hosts a District Music Contest with SHS band director Mike Lewis entering four small groups and the full band. Groups include a clarinet quintet, brass choir, trombone solo, and jazz ensemble, performing Concertino Foundation and Joyant Narrative. chorale entries span mixed quartet, duets, soloists, and ensembles with 15 entries overall.
