Progress Day Festivities At Egging Co Opens Wednesday
The Sidney Chamber of Commerce sponsors a free Chuck Wagon dinner and a two day Panhandle Equipment and Progress Day program at the Egging Company plant beginning Wednesday. An Elks Auditorium dinner at 6:30 p.m. expects about 1,000 attendees with $1 plates for nonfarmers. Harold P. Pluimer of St. Paul, Minnesota, is the principal speaker.

Sidney Firemen Respond To Three Weekend Calls
Sidney volunteers battled three fires Friday to Sunday. A 2 p.m. grass fire north of the Livestock Pavilion caused little damage. A log pile burn near Carl Benzel farm exploded into 20 acres of pasture fire. Sunday’s blaze near the Cheyenne County fairgrounds damaged a fence and grass, likely set by local youths, with about 15 dollars in damage.

Northwestern Bell filed a Centennial service proposal with the Nebraska State Railway Commission to provide Nebraska customers with 60 minutes of long distance calls per month within the state for ten dollars. An eight month trial would apply to stationary home calls with no per call length limit beyond a one minute minimum and $1.25 extra for each additional ten minutes monthly.
