Snow flurries accompanied unsettled weather fell in Cheyenne county yesterday, offering potential moisture if the storm persists. By midafternoon rainfall remained unmeasurable. flakes were very wet and melting quickly. Forecasts hinted at worsening conditions then rising temperatures with possible rain. A moisture deficit lingered in western Nebraska requiring several days of rain or snow to recover. Farmers faced uncertain reseeding needs as large tracts may require replanting due to winter, wind, or drought damage. While western Nebraska stayed dry, storms affected Wyoming and Colorado with a mild blizzard and heavy snow, and eastern Nebraska reported April showers. Fields near Nebraska City soaked by afternoon, with over 1% inches by midafternoon, Fairbury over half an inch, Omaha about .21 inch. A light rain continued through the afternoon. A survey shows by season end about 4 000 acres in Lodge Pole valley will be under pump irrigation with around 30 wells in use.
