The Story Chapter I1 and II Summary at Sleepy Cat

Chapter I details a shooting at Bartoe's gambling den as John Selwood defends Dave Tracy. Chapter II shows Selwood, now a Sleepy Cat representative, aiding a stalled settler, musing on a found girl’s shoe and a theft of 600 dollars from a creaking den. The tale centers on gambing, loyalty, and frontier intrigue.
