Tri-State seeks personnel housing for Sidney operation

Tri-State Generation and Transmission Assn Inc of Denver says it is interviewing for employment at its Sidney HQ. A 90,000 square foot building was acquired last fall to service portions of its territory, with local hiring unlikely due to the technical nature of work. Housing prospects are hoped to attract staff to Sidney by summer, aided by local chamber cooperation. Fire destroys fertilizer operation in Sterling

A fire gutted two buildings in Sterling causing up to 1 million dollars in damage. American Fertilizer and Chemical Co and a former seed and grain store were destroyed as 30 firefighters and 20 volunteers fought the blaze from 1:15 pm to 3 am. Eighteen people, including some firefighters, were treated for smoke and chemical fume inhalation. residents within five blocks were evacuated with no serious injuries reported. The cause remains undetermined, preliminarily traced to the grain elevator of the old seed and grain store.

Curtis backs Sutherland power plant amid FPC delay

FBI: Patricia Hearst Not Found In Nebraska Sightings
